Create your basic disc
The following are rough-and-ready
instructions for creating your basic disc. We've since revamped
the whole feature - including updating all the links - and
incorporated it into the main SupportPCs site. To read a more
user-friendly version of the BartPE guide, please click
here.
Locate your Windows installation
files
Click Start > Run, type regedit and press
Enter. Browse to the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
Examine the SourcePath value in the right-hand pane - if it
points to your CD drive then the files you need will be on your
Windows installation or recovery disc; if it points to your hard
drive, then the files are there.
Locate the i386 folder in either case and copy - don't move -
it to the root directory of your C drive.

Process to follow
Install PEBuilder
Slipstream SP2 into C:\i386 (select Source >
Slipstream in PEBuilder)
Point PEBuilder to C:\i386 directory
Click
here to verify your wired and wireless network drivers are
supported by Drivers Add-On v1.9.
If they are, run the Drivers Add-On tool, then copy the required
folder(s) to the pebuilder3110a\drivers\Net or
pebuilder3110a\drivers\SCSIAdapter directories.
If they're not, or you have a dial-up modem, use the Hardware
Plug-in Finder tool to generate the drivers you need. Copy the
resulting folder - MyDrivers - into pebuilder3110a\plugins.
Launch PEBuilder and click Plugins. Verify any drivers
created by the Hardware Plug-In Finder tool are listed and enabled.
Click Add and add the Wireless Service, Windows XPE Plug-In and
Dial-up Networking Support plug-ins in turn.
Select Startup Group and Nu2Shell plug-ins in turn and
click Enable/Disable to disable them.
Use the links on the left to add any other tools and utilities you
think you'll need to your disc, then return here.
Browse to C:\I386\ASMS\52\msft\windows\net\dxmrtp and copy
dxmrtp.dll to C:\i386.
Open C:\pebuilder3310a and rename mkisofs to
mymkisofs.
Open BuildScripts-20050322.zip and copy contents to
C:\pebuilder3110a.
Open PEBuilder. Select Burn to CD//DVD under Media Output and
tick AutoErase RW. Insert blank rewritable disc and click
Build.
